NL20-3847 Japanese Kimono, circa 1923
By the early 1900's, the Japanese kimono became popular in Europe as an alternative garment to the Tea Gown. By the 20th century, the kimono had well entered the American fashion scene as its basic line was worn as a Dressing Gown.
Above is The Butterick Pattern Company's early 1920's rendition of the Japanese Kimono for the home sewist.
6-piece kimono pattern fits size 18 (36" bust, 30" waist, 39" hip). Suggested fabrics are: brocade, duchesse satin, taffeta.
