C80-Mantel Ladies' Grenadine Mantel, circa 1885
The original instructions that come with this pattern read: 'The front and back of this mantel are of velvet-figured grenadine over a silk lining, while the short sleeve forms are of jetted tulle.' The mantle may be trimmed with 'frills of French lace, those on the sleeves being studded with jet drops. Moire' ribbon bows are placed at the throat and on the sides, and a belt of the ribbon is knotted across the front.'
This is another great piece from the mid-1880's that lends itself well as an evening wrap for today or an historically accurate costuming piece!
3/4 yard of 44"/45" wide goods required for the body of the mantle,
1/2 yard of 32" wide net are required for the sleeve forms.
5-piece pattern complete with instructions in size 32" to 34" bust.
